Road closures in Seven Sisters/West Green Road, May to September 2024
Cadent Gas will soon begin a major project to improve the reliability of its network for customers across north London.
Cadent will close West Green Road for about 10 weeks from May to July 2024. Traffic and bus diversions will be in place.
While Cadent Gas understands the disruption this will cause and are working closely with the council to minimise this as much as possible, the works are vital to ensure their network remains reliable to avoid any loss of heating and hot water to customers across North London.
We will update this page with more information as the project goes on, so please check back. We’ll also provide regular updates in our e-newsletter Haringey People Extra and on our social media channels.
Project dates
Cadent Gas will start the project on Tuesday 7 May. The 3 phases of work should take approximately 19 weeks, until Friday 13 September.
Road closures
Cadent Gas are closing the following roads:
- West Green Road between Westerfield Road and Portland Road, and High Road from 7 May to 21 July
- Westerfield Road at the junction with West Green Road, with access only via Seven Sisters Road
A diversion will be in operation directing traffic travelling between Turnpike Lane and Seven Sisters to use Green Lanes and Seven Sisters Road.
Cadent Gas will also close part of the Westerfield Road Car Park throughout the project for storage and welfare facilities.
Work near the Seven Sisters tube station exit will take place in August and September.
Bus diversions and stop closures
Transport for London will operate bus diversions during this project. We will provide more details on this page as soon as they become available.
Seven Sisters Station bus stop E (West Green) and D (High Road) will be closed.
Changes to low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) trials
Certain parts of the Bruce Grove West Green and the St Ann’s LTNs will be suspended during this period to allow traffic to divert while the West Green Road closure is in place.
We are currently assessing which camera-controlled filters on specific roads will be temporarily lifted, ensuring traffic flow and road safety is considered, and will provide further details on this page as soon as they become available.
