The Intimate Space at St Mary’s Tower, Hornsey Village is an atmospheric 5m x 5m x 5m performance space in the historic London village of Hornsey, N8. It is available to hire and is available to all, regardless or means. The Tower is very old and a unique building, the only surviving part of the original St Mary’s church. It is still owned by the church so we have a few restrictions on use. It is supported by the Friends of Hornsey Church Tower – website: http://www.hornseychurchtower.com It seats about 20-25 people, which makes it ideal for smaller performances or ‘Tapas Theatre’. Very intimate! (Chairs provided.) Inside you have a gothic arch, a fantastic glass window or a fireplace as a backdrop. Walls are painted white. At night it can be very atmospheric. During the summer the gardens are also available and can take several hundred people. The steps act as a natural stage. As a small space it’ll be available to use for all sorts of performances – drama, music, comedy, poetry readings, recitals, interview sessions, workshops, solo performances, film clubs, etc. Ideal for experimentation, first time shows, fringe, pre-runs, immersive theatre and multiple performances. It is however, less suited to a large cast, bands or dance. […]

It acquired charity status in 1986 and limited company status in 1990. The current name was then adopted to reflect the community it represents. Initially, ACLC was funded through Urban Aid grant, following which, Haringey now only funds 27% of ACLC’s running costs. Its ultimate objective is to become self-financing.

What We Do We work to make the arts and creative industries more accessible to all The Bernie Grant Arts Centre is a unique venue in Tottenham, north London, inspired by the vision of the late Bernie Grant MP. Designed by Sir David Adjaye, our purpose-built complex opened in 2007, comprising a 274-seat theatre, multi-purpose studio spaces, boutique cinema, a clustering of 20 enterprise units, and an award-winning Café & Bar. The design of the complex intentionally lends itself to fusing and promoting the endeavours of artists, entrepreneurs, and learners. Bernie Grant firmly believed that the arts have the power to transform lives, combat inequality, and help us build a fairer and more equal society. Our founding mission was to reduce the bias in the arts world that has contributed to significant under-representation of black and minority ethnic heritage, those growing up in disadvantaged circumstances, and those without the connections to encourage, support and build career success. Ten years on, our commitment remains steadfast, although the world we operate in is significantly different. We’ve grown to be part of the fabric of Tottenham, itself experiencing rapid change and growth. Our reputation continues to grow as a venue that supports, promotes, […]
