Over recent months, many of us would have recieved a text message that looks like it has come from someone we know saying they have been involved in an accident or stuck at a hospital abroad and need you to send them money. Well, the scam with the power of AI (Artificial Intelligence) has become even more powerful and you really need to be careful.
AI voice generator scams refer to fraudulent schemes where scammers use AI-powered voice generation technology to impersonate real individuals or create deceptive audio content. They exploit this technology to manipulate or deceive people for various purposes, such as phishing, fraud, or spreading disinformation.
These scams can take different forms, such as:
- Impersonations: Scammers impersonate someone well-known, like a celebrity or a public figure, using AI-generated voices to deceive individuals into believing they are interacting with the real person.
- Synthetic Voice Recordings: Scammers use AI voices to create fake recordings of individuals without their consent. These could be used for various malicious purposes, including defaming someone, creating fake testimonials, or spreading false information.
- Voice Cloning Attacks: Scammers use AI to clone an individual’s voice and make it sound like they are saying things they have never said. This can be exploited to trick people into performing certain actions or giving away sensitive information.
It’s important to stay vigilant and skeptical while interacting with any voice-generated content, especially from unknown or unverified sources. Be cautious when sharing personal or confidential information, making financial transactions, or relying on voice-generated content as proof of authenticity.
With the power of AI, the call will sound very like the person you think it would be. If you do get a telephone call like this, hang up straight away. Call the person back using the number you have to see if they are ok and let them know you recieved a scam call.
I appreciate you sharing this blog post. Thanks Again. Cool.
