The Government are testing a new Emergency Alert System on Tuesday 22nd June and Tuesday 29th June between 1.00pm to 2.00pm which may send a Emergency Alert to your phone or tablet.
Emergency alerts are broadcast from mobile phone masts. Every compatible mobile phone or tablet in range will receive an alert. The government does not need your phone number to send you an alert.
When the system is up live it is there to warn you about any dangers to life which could include Flooding, Explosions, Public Health or terrorist incidents.
If you have an Android device, there’s a small chance you may get a test alert. Your device may make a loud siren-like sound.
