Today, Wednesday 23rd June, sees the launch of the new £50 note by the Bank of England. Over the next few days, the notes will start appearing in banks.
The new polymer note is like the new £5, £10 and £20 notes which have new security measures to help tackle fake money which includes a hologram which changes from the word “Fifty” to “£50”. The Bank of England has also announced that old £20 and £50 notes will not be used after 30th September 2022.
BE CAREFUL with old notes!
Always check the old £20 and £50 notes you may have. Due to the amount of forgeries on the £50 notes, many businesses do not accept them especially for low priced items. In Wood Green there have been over the last year many instances of people hanging around parking machines asking others to change a £20 note. Its not to after that others have then found out they were given a fake note.
