Assistant Psychologist Band 4 Fixed Term 18 months contract
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Psychologist to work within our Assessment and Intervention Team (AIT) in Haringey Integrated Learning Disabilities Service (HILDS). AIT is an established multi-disciplinary team that work with individuals with learning disabilities who have complex challenging behaviour and/or mental health issues and are currently at risk of placement breakdown or hospital admission. Many people will also have additional diagnosis including Autism and/or ADHD. Utilising a trauma informed approach, the team aim to minimise placement breakdowns within the community and support timely discharge where hospital admissions was unavoidable.
Working in a multi-disciplinary team with adults with learning disabilities and the large networks around them. The Assistant Psychologist will be based in the Assessment and Intervention Team (AIT) working with adults at risk of hospital admission due to mental health crises or severe behaviour escalation.
The Assistant Psychologist will utilise psychological assessment and evidence based intervention to improve outcomes for adults at risk of hospital admission.
The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is going from strength to strength since it was originally established in 2021 forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work.
Assistant psychologists (AP) in this post work jointly with AIT nursing colleagues to complete person-centred assessments and interventions that improve quality of life for people with learning disabilities. Working with large networks around a person, the AP will utilise systemic thinking and knowledge to engage the network. Tasks can include using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework to understand behaviours of concerns and inform PBS plans. Drawing on CBT and other therapeutic approaches to offer psychological interventions for those experiencing mental health difficulties. Supporting the development of robust risk assessments and crisis and contingency plans and liaising with relevant partners to manage crisis presentation. Contributing to multi-disciplinary formulation sessions using the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF).
The successful candidate will be supervised by a Clinical Psychologist working within the Learning Disabilities Service, as well as working closely with wider multi-disciplinary colleagues including nursing, psychiatry, social work, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. There are strong links to Assistant Psychologist groups and opportunities to develop learning through the LD special interest group. There are often opportunities to support Quality Improvement (QI) projects within the service, to contribute to service development and facilitate workshops for care providers on Trauma Informed Care (TIC), Autism and sleep and PBS.

This post does require candidates to work and travel within Haringey community.
