Apply for my Politics Summer School

Apply for my Politics Summer School

I have an exciting opportunity for young people in my constituency. I am hosting my second Politics Summer School for students aged 16 to 19 who either live or attend school in Hornsey and Wood Green.

The Summer School will take place between Monday 15 and Friday 19 July 2019. It will offer participants the opportunity to gain an insight into the workings of central and local governance as well as how individuals and organisations influence government. The week will include:

  • A day in the Houses of Parliament including a tour, a session on how Parliament works with talks from Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and a chance to watch Parliamentary proceedings from the public gallery
  • A visit to Haringey Council with talks from Leader of the Council Joseph Ejiofor, other Councillors and Local Authority Officers.
  • A visit to City Hall including a tour, Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Question Time and a Q&A with Deputy Mayor Joanne McCartney
  • Talks from a range of Civic Society members
  • A talk with a journalist about the role of media in politics
  • A presentation ceremony at the Civic Centre in Wood Green.

Applications should be made online using the following link: www.tinyurl.com/CWSummerSchool.

The closing date for applications is Monday 3 June 2019.

Please note that the itinerary is subject to change and that in the event of a General Election the Summer School will not take place.

Please share this opportunity with young people who might be eligible and interested!
